11 year-old Nigerian artist Kareem Waris Olamilekan wins Taiwan’s Chou Ta-Kuan Cultural and Education Foundation award.
Olamilekan who beat 2,723 others to get this prize which is the 22nd Fervenet Global Love of Lives Award will be attending a charity event in Taipei in company of other winners and also have the opportunity of meeting the Taiwanese president.
According to Ambassador Vincent Yang, the representative of Taiwan in Nigeria who disclosed this award, Kareem gained global attention for his unique drawings, which made him the most preferred among thousands. Yang also added that his office had already congratulated and hosted the young creative.
It should be noted that the hyper realism artist first got the attention of global media when he did a very captivating portrait of Emmanuel Macron, the French president, during his visit to Nigeria. This feat earned him accolades from home and abroad and educational support by the former Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode.
